Thai Language & Culture
Exploring Thai language and culture at CIST
At the Canadian International School of Thailand, we believe that language learning is a gateway to understanding the world. As part of our commitment to nurturing globally minded, culturally aware learners, CIST proudly offers Thai as a specialist language every day (5 days per week), providing students the opportunity to connect deeply with the local language, traditions, and heritage. Here, learning Thai is more than acquiring communication skills, it is a journey into culture, identity, and community.
A gateway to cultural understanding
Thai is not only the language of our home country, but also a key to appreciating Thailand’s vibrant history, arts, and traditions. For local students, Thai language lessons deepen their connection to their roots, while foreign students gain meaningful insight into the culture and society around them. Through language, students develop cultural empathy, understanding, and a genuine appreciation of Thailand’s rich heritage—a foundation for thriving in both local and global contexts.
Authentic learning with passion
Our Thai program is led by fully qualified, native Thai-speaking educators who bring both expertise and enthusiasm to every lesson. Students experience authentic language use, accurate pronunciation, and cultural storytelling that brings lessons to life. From traditional customs to contemporary Thai culture, each session invites students to explore the depth and beauty of Thai identity in a way that is engaging, meaningful, and relevant.
Aligned With the PYP, MYP, and the Ontario Curriculum
CIST’s Thai language program is carefully integrated with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), ensuring an inquiry-driven, concept-based approach to learning. Students are encouraged to make meaningful connections, express themselves confidently, and develop the communication skills required in a multicultural, interconnected world.
Through a structured and progressive curriculum, Thai language lessons provide students with purposeful growth each year, balancing cultural knowledge, linguistic skills, and critical thinking. Whether a student is local or international, learning Thai at CIST fosters both academic achievement and a lifelong appreciation of Thailand’s cultural richness.
At CIST, learning Thai is more than language, it is an invitation to engage, belong, and celebrate the heritage that surrounds us, while preparing every student to navigate the world with curiosity, respect, and confidence.
Join us as we inspire students to think globally, communicate with purpose, and step into their futures with the confidence that language empowers.
