Early Years - PreK2 to PreK4
Our Early Years approach is guided by the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) framework and informed by the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Together, these approaches promote inquiry-based, transdisciplinary learning through play, exploration, and meaningful experiences. Children develop communication, physical skills, wellbeing, literacy, mathematics, and creative expression while building agency and seeing themselves as confident, active learners. Clear developmental milestones ensure each child’s learning journey is supported with care, intention, and purpose.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, our learning environments are thoughtfully designed to encourage creativity, collaboration, and exploration. Children’s ideas and interests are valued, with teachers acting as facilitators who guide and extend learning.
Strong foundations in literacy and numeracy are developed through Jolly Phonics and White Rose Maths, using hands-on, engaging, and age-appropriate experiences that build confidence and understanding.
Learning is enriched through specialist classes, including daily Thai language and culture, a Mandarin immersion stream from PreK4 to Grade 1, music and performance, and physical education and health. Students also have opportunities to extend their learning beyond the school day by participating in a range of extracurricular activities available from PreK4.
By blending these approaches, CIST’s Early Years programme balances child-led inquiry with purposeful teaching, ensuring every child in PreK2–PreK4 feels supported, inspired, and ready for future learning.
